CREW 1577

Venturing is a BSA program for boys and girls aged 14 -20 years. The Venturing program emphasizes:

• Adventure
• Leadership
• Personal growth

• Service

 

Venturing Crew 1577 was founded in 2004, is chartered by Trinity Presbyterian Church and operates in collaboration with Troop 1577. The Crew is youth-led and advised by trained adults, and its activities are conducted in compliance with BSA safety and adult supervision requirements. The Scout Oath and Scout Law guide the conduct of Crew members.

 

The Crew typically meets on a biweekly basis. Meetings focus on planning and preparation for activities. Activities planned and conducted by Crew 1577 Venturers last year included:

• Indoor rock climbing

• Camping and whitewater rafting

• Long distance cycling

• Camping and Backpacking on the Appalachian Trail, Billy Goat Trail and Signal Knob

• Weekly physical training and planning meetings for the upcoming Philmont trek

• Litter cleanup in a neighborhood park

 

Plans for the coming year include:

• A 12-day backcountry backpacking trip at Philmont Scout Ranch

• Shakedown backpacking trips to prepare for Philmont

• Cycling trips

• Canoeing trips
